A desktop monitor controller with a properly engineered analogue volume core: three speaker sets, four sources, built-in talkback, and four headphone outputs with cue mixes. One knob, no software layer between you and the level.

It adds to an existing rig exactly what interfaces skimp on — instant A/B between speaker pairs, a talkback path for tracking sessions, and a volume control you trust. The box that removes "which output was live" from your studio vocabulary.

If you run one pair of speakers and never record other people, your interface's knob already does this job. NERO is for rigs that have outgrown it.

Our take
Speaker switching sounds like a luxury until you hear a mix collapse on the second pair — then it becomes the most-used knob in the room. Between this and an interface upgrade, take this, provided your converters are already decent.
