An active dynamic vocal handheld: the ruggedness and feedback resistance of a stage dynamic, with a powered output stage that restores the top-end air dynamics usually trade away. Supercardioid, so it hears the singer and mostly ignores the wedges.

It's for vocalists who have outgrown the standard-issue stage mics but can't risk a condenser — loud bands, rough monitors, and the long cable runs the active output shrugs off.

Like all active dynamics it wants 48 V phantom power from the desk; without it, silence. Supercardioid also means aim matters — sing into the top of the grille, not across it.

Our take
Between this and the Beyerdynamic TG V70 s across the aisle: the Beyerdynamic is the traditional dark-and-solid stage dynamic, the OD505 sounds noticeably more open up top. Feedback-war stages, either works; singers chasing detail, OD505.
