Beyerdynamic's MM 1: a pencil-slim omnidirectional condenser built for measurement, not music. Its job is a flat, honest picture of what your room is doing — feed it to room-correction software or an RTA and it reports the truth, dips, modes and all.

Buy it the week you buy monitors. Speaker placement and correction filters are only as good as the microphone measuring them, and a vocal mic pressed into measurement duty lies in both directions.

It's a condenser, so it needs phantom power from your interface. You could record with it in a pinch — that's just not why it exists.
