The compact closed monitor broadcast never stopped ordering: small circumaural shells, soft pads, and a smoother, more even balance than the V-shaped DT 770. It disappears on the head and out of the signal — which is precisely the job.

It's light, it's serviceable — cable and pads replace in minutes — and it has been in continuous production long enough to prove the design. Voice work, ENG bags, drum monitoring in small rooms.

The earcups run compact, and larger ears will touch the inside. If you want more room and more bass showmanship, that's the DT 770 PRO. If you want neutral and forgettable in the best sense, it's this.

Our take
The quiet professional's DT 770 alternative — flatter mids, less bass theatre, lighter on the head. Broadcast still specs it for a reason. Big ears should try before buying; the cups run small.
