The home version of the semi-open DT 880, in the 600 Ω winding — the one built for a proper amplifier and an evening chair. Semi-open means it splits the difference honestly: more air and stage than a closed 770, more bass grip than a fully open 990.

The Edition trim swaps the studio coil for a straight cable and clamps more gently than the PRO. The 600 Ω coil uses the thinnest, lightest wire in the range; driven properly it is the smoothest classic DT there is. Driven from a phone it will barely whisper — budget an amp or skip this version.

Our take

Of everything on our Beyerdynamic wall this is the connoisseur trap — glorious on a real amp, useless without one. Own a proper headphone amp: buy it. Otherwise the 32 Ω Edition next to it is the same headphone for the life you actually live.
