Beyerdynamic's elastic suspension for pencil microphones: a shockmount that cradles mic bodies between 19 and 25 mm in diameter and keeps stand rumble, boom handling and floor thumps away from the capsule.
The elastics do what foam never quite manages — they decouple the microphone from everything it touches. Measure your mic's barrel before ordering: the mount takes 19–25 mm and nothing outside it.
Our take
Cheap insurance for location and overhead work — a shockmount is the difference between editing out footsteps and never recording them. It fits by diameter, not by brand, so check your mic's barrel measurement first.
