A dynamic instrument mic from the TG line — the kind you park against a guitar-cab grille and stop thinking about. Dynamics take high sound pressure without fuss, need no phantom power, and tolerate the handling that instruments and stages dish out.

For electric guitar and bass cabs, snare and brass, live or in the rehearsal room. Plug into any preamp, aim near the speaker cone, then move it a few centimetres at a time — position is the EQ here.

It is not the tool for acoustic-guitar detail or cymbals; that is condenser territory, where the TG I53 lives.

Our take
Beyerdynamic's answer to the Sennheiser e 906 on a guitar cab. The Sennheiser hangs by its cable and owns the reputation; this undercuts it and covers the same ground for most rigs.
