The entry point to Beyerdynamic's vocal wall: a dynamic handheld with an on/off switch. The supercardioid pattern stays focused on the singer and turns the room down; being a dynamic, it needs no power and survives being dropped.

For rehearsal rooms, small PA rigs, spoken word and karaoke — settings with no engineer at a desk, where the switch means singers can mute themselves between songs.

It is a starter mic and priced like one. If you sing amplified every week, start one shelf up at the TG V50 instead.

Our take
Fine for the rehearsal room, and honest about it. The TG V50 is the one to actually gig with — this is the spare that lives in the drawer and gets lent out without worry.
