A small 2.1 set — two satellites and a compact subwoofer — for the office computer, at the price where the only real competition is not buying speakers at all. The 8.5 W total tells you the scale: desk volume, spoken word, background music.

Setup is one wired connection to the machine and a spot under the desk for the sub. Nothing to pair, nothing to update.

This is the floor of our speaker wall, and we stock it because it does its one job: making a workday computer sound acceptable. The moment music becomes the point rather than the background, the MR3 pair is where to look.

Our take
The cheapest cure on our wall for built-in laptop sound. It earns its keep in offices and nowhere else — and it doesn't pretend otherwise.
