A portable one-box speaker with more inside than the size suggests: Edifier quotes 12 + 2×4 W RMS, which is real amplification for a cabinet you carry with one hand.

Battery-powered and plain-faced, it is the practical member of our portable shelf — kitchen windowsill during the week, garden table at the weekend. No styling statement, just a working speaker.

Placing it among its siblings: the MP85 is smaller and cheaper, the MP230 is dressier. The MP260 is the one we'd pick on sound alone, and the plainness is part of why it costs what it does.

Our take

Of the three portables, this is the sound-first pick — the MP230 charges extra for looks, the MP85 for pocketability. Plain box, best of the small ones.
