The default living-room answer: a powered bookshelf pair with optical, coaxial and two RCA inputs plus Bluetooth, and a remote for the sofa. TV into the optical, everything else wherever it fits.

The 4-inch woofers and silk-dome tweeters are tuned warm and forgiving — a speaker for enjoying broadcasts and records, not dissecting them. 42 W total is plenty for a normal room at normal volumes.

Sold as a pair, one active and one passive, joined by ordinary speaker wire. Line-level inputs only: a turntable needs a built-in or separate phono stage before it lands here.

Our take
The one we recommend most, because it does everything a TV-and-vinyl shelf needs and nothing it doesn't. Choose the R1280DBS over it only if a subwoofer is genuinely coming later.
