The R1280DB with one addition that matters: a line-level subwoofer output. Same wooden cabinets, same optical, coaxial and twin RCA inputs, same Bluetooth and remote.

The sub out is the whole argument. Start with the pair alone; when the room asks for more low end, add nearly any powered subwoofer without replacing a thing.

Sold as a pair, black or wood finish. As with the whole family, inputs are line-level — vinyl needs its own phono stage upstream.

Our take
Pay the difference over the plain DB only if a subwoofer is a real plan rather than a daydream — otherwise it is dead money. If it is a plan, this is the cheapest sensible foundation for a 2.1 room.
