A small powered pair with Bluetooth and a compact wooden cabinet — the desk speaker for people who want music present, not central.

It plays background: radio while cooking, podcasts while working, a film on the laptop. Close up it is clear and pleasant; across a room it runs out of breath, and that is fine.

Sold as a pair. The next honest step up in sound is the R1010BT, which asks for more shelf and gives back real bass drivers.

Our take
Between this and the R20BT, flip a coin and check the desk measurements. Neither will move air; both beat every laptop ever made.
