The R980T recipe with Bluetooth added: a compact wooden powered pair, 12 W a side, line input for the wired things and streaming for everything else.

It covers the whole starter-system brief — desk, dorm, kitchen counter — without asking for thought. Warm, simple, plays what you send it.

Sold as a pair. Phone-first households start here; cable-first desks can take the R980T and skip the radio.

Our take
Between the wired R980T and this, buy whichever matches how you actually play music — they are the same class of box otherwise. The next real sound upgrade lives at the R1010BT and up.
