The upper end of Edifier's bookshelf line: a wooden-cabinet active pair with a flat-diaphragm tweeter and — unusually at this level — balanced XLR inputs alongside RCA, optical, coaxial and Bluetooth.

That balanced input is the tell. This pair moves as happily onto a desk beside an audio interface as into a living room, with selectable EQ modes on the remote for each job.

Sold as a pair, amplifier in one cabinet, supplied cable to the other. Big enough to want stands rather than a cramped shelf.

Our take
The balanced XLRs and flat tweeter are what you pay for over the S1000MKII — feed it from an Audient interface and it doubles as a very civilised monitoring rig. If it will only ever meet a TV, save the difference.
