The S-series shrunk to desk scale: a compact active pair with the wooden-cabinet build of its bigger siblings, Bluetooth and wired inputs, and a remote. White with wood accents — one of the few speakers here that improves a desk's appearance.

This is the right S-series for nearfield distances. The big pairs want a metre or two of room to work; the S880DB is sized and voiced for an arm's length, either side of a monitor.

Sold as a pair — amplifier in one cabinet, supplied cable to the other.

Our take
On an actual desk this beats stuffing an S1000MKII where it doesn't fit — small cabinets close up sound better than big cabinets strangled. Feed it from an EVO 4 or a deck with a line out and it's a complete small system.
