The tower at the top of the EF line: a streaming DAC/amp with output to spare for HE1000-class planars, balanced and 6.35 mm outputs — and a headphone stand formed into its top, which sounds like a gimmick until your desk stays permanently tidy.

It is the one-box answer for a serious planar desk: source, conversion, amplification and parking in a single vertical footprint.

Under an Arya Organic or HE1000 V4 it earns its keep. Under anything smaller, the EF500 does the same work with change left over.

Our take
Buy it alongside an Arya Organic or HE1000 V4 and the desk is finished — source to stand in one go. With smaller headphones it's overkill in the pleasant sense; the EF500 is the thriftier match.
