A light wired on-ear sitting between the bare-utility KPH7 and the cult-favourite KPH30i. The recipe is classic Koss: soft pads resting on the ear, a slim adjustable band, a 3.5 mm plug and no electronics anywhere — nothing to charge, pair or update.

That makes it an easy keeper for desks, kitchens and kids' study tables. On-ears of this type leak sound both ways, so silent offices and libraries are not the habitat.

Spend the extra when you can: the KPH30i is a genuine step up in tuning, not a badge change. When the budget is fixed, the KPH25 does honest work.

    Our take
The awkward middle child. Stretch to the KPH30i if at all possible; drop to the KPH7 if it's for guests and spares. The KPH25 is for the budget that lands exactly here.
