The bottom rung of Nagaoka's MP ladder and Japan's default first upgrade: a moving magnet with a conical tip, warm and forgiving of worn records and imperfect setup alike. Being MM, it plugs into any standard phono input — no extra hardware anywhere.

The half-inch mount fits any conventional headshell or tonearm — and none of the fixed-cartridge automatics like Sony's PS-LX decks, where a replacement stylus is the only upgrade path.

The stylus (JN-P100) swaps in seconds, so the body outlives several tips. Buy the cartridge once; buy styli for years.

Our take
The forgiving pick for crate-diggers — a conical tip skates over damage an elliptical would announce. For clean records, spend the extra on the MP-110 and don't look back.
