Second from the top: a line-contact tip on a boron cantilever, for turntables and arms that can hold it steady. Line-contact profiles touch more groove wall than any elliptical — more retrieved information, and less tolerance for sloppy alignment, wrong tracking force, or a neglected record collection.

It remains a moving magnet, so any standard MM phono input drives it; you're buying serious retrieval without touching the rest of the chain. Half-inch mount, conventional headshells only. The JN-P300 replacement stylus keeps the body running for the long haul.

Set it up with a protractor and patience, or buy the MP-200 instead.

Our take
A setup-rewards cartridge: aligned properly on a solid arm it embarrasses carts above its class; thrown on carelessly it sounds worse than the MP-150. Know which owner you are.
