A true mono moving magnet for mono pressings. Mono records carry no vertical groove information; a dedicated mono cartridge ignores that axis — and with it most of the crackle, wear noise, and pressing grot a stereo cartridge faithfully plays back. On a shelf of mono reissues or sixties originals, the difference is immediate.

Because it's MM, any standard phono input drives it — no MC stage, unlike most mono rivals. Two styli exist: the standard 0.7 mil for modern mono reissues, and a 1.0 mil conical for older original pressings with wider grooves. Half-inch mount; keep it on a spare headshell and swap in seconds.

Our take
The practical mono choice — the Hana SL Mono reads deeper but demands an MC stage; this one works on the phono input you already have. Reissue collectors want the 0.7 mil; the 1.0 mil is strictly for original fifties and sixties pressings.
