This is the MV7X — Shure's podcast dynamic with the USB electronics deleted. XLR out only, the same voice-flattering cardioid capsule and built-in yoke as the rest of the MV7 family, at a working-tool price point.

It is for people who already own an audio interface and want the close-talk broadcast sound without feeding an SM7B's appetite for gain. The MV7X is noticeably easier to drive; ordinary interface preamps handle it fine.

No USB, no headphone jack, no software — your interface does all of that. If you do not own an interface yet, buy one alongside or look at the USB-equipped MV7+ instead.

Our take
Most of the SM7B's spoken-word character without the gain demands — an ordinary interface drives it happily. The SM7B keeps the last few percent of smoothness; this keeps your preamp budget.
