The live-rig standard, and after a decade it still has no clean replacement: two 64-step melodic sequencer tracks, a 16-track drum sequencer, and enough CV/gate, drum-gate and MIDI connections to run a whole table of hardware from one controller.

It earns its place in two rooms. On stage, the performance controls — mutes, rollers, pattern chaining — make it an instrument rather than a programmer. In the studio it becomes the clock and brain of a hybrid setup, keeping modular, drum machine and DAW in step.

The pads are for programming and finger drumming, not piano parts. If you play melodies with more than one finger, add a keyed controller alongside.
