The commentary standard. Turn on almost any European sports broadcast and someone in the booth is wearing a DT 297 — closed cups that keep a stadium out of the monitor mix, and a condenser boom microphone that delivers an on-air voice, not an intercom squawk.

The PV designation matters: the microphone is a condenser and needs phantom power from the desk or beltpack. On equipment that supplies it, the step up from a dynamic headset microphone is immediately audible on air.

Supplied without a cable, as broadcasters prefer. Add a K 190-series cord and tell us your connectors — terminating these correctly is routine work for us.

Our take
The best speech microphone on our headset wall, full stop — but only if your desk supplies phantom power. If it does not, the DT 280 MK II gets you the same cups with a microphone that needs nothing.
