Buy males and females in matched count — a stereo pair of interconnects takes two of each. Mixing grades works fine electrically; it just offends the completists.

Our take
The latch is the quiet argument for XLR over RCA in the first place — nothing about this connector's price changes that logic, it just gilds it. Pair with the CF-601M NCF and good balanced wire, or step down a grade and hear almost all of it.
