The HD 490 PRO in the Plus set: both earpad tunings, a second cable at 3 m, a spare headband cushion, and the case. If the 490 is going to be your daily tool, the Plus pays for itself the first time a cable dies on deadline.

The headphone itself is identical — open-back, 130 Ω, the two-pad tuning system that makes it two tools in one. The extras exist to protect the part you actually paid for.

Our take
Take the Plus if the headphone leaves the studio even monthly — the case and the spare 3 m cable are the parts that actually get used. Living on a stand in one room, the standard set is the same headphone for less.
