The standard Shure foam windscreen for ball-grille vocal microphones — SM58 first among them. It slips over the grille, tames plosives and wind blasts, and keeps spit and stage grime out of the capsule.

Outdoor gigs and close vocal work are where it earns its keep. It also saves the grille itself: cheaper to retire a foam than to de-gunk a basket. Rinse it, dry it, reuse it.

Fit is for ball-type heads only — it is not shaped for pencil condensers or drum clips.

Our take
Costs less than a beer and doubles the time between grille cleanings — we would throw one in the bag with every SM58 that leaves the shop.
