The double-ribbon M 160 — two ribbons stacked in a single transducer, hand-assembled in Heilbronn, with the hypercardioid pattern almost no other ribbon offers. Smooth where condensers etch, focused where classic ribbons spill room into every take.

Reach for it when cymbals turn harsh through condensers, when a violin needs body without edge, when an electric guitar should sound the way it does standing in the room.

Ribbon rules apply: it wants a quiet, generous preamp, and keep 48 V phantom switched off on its channel. Handle it with the respect a hand-built transducer deserves.

Our take
For snare or hi-hat on a budget the M 201 gets you most of the way; the M 160 is what you buy when the top end has to be beautiful rather than merely accurate. Pad your gain budget — ribbons drink preamp.
