Beyerdynamic TG I53

A small condenser instrument mic — the fast-capsule type for hi-hat, cymbals and acoustic instruments, where a dynamic sounds blunt. Condenser transient speed keeps stick definition on the hat and string detail on a guitar intact.

For close-in percussion work, under-cymbal and overhead duty, and acoustic instruments at short range. It runs on 48 V phantom power, so it wants a proper mic preamp, not a bare line input.

For stereo overheads, take two — or step up to the factory-matched MC 930 set when imaging starts to matter more than budget.
