The current version of Edifier's stand-alone active subwoofer: one cabinet, 70 W, line-level input, in black or brown to sit beside the matching speaker finishes.

The job description is identical to the T5 it updates — take a bookshelf pair with a subwoofer output and give it the low end small cabinets physically can't make.

The same warning applies: this is a single subwoofer, not a pair of speakers, and it wants a partner with a sub output — R1700BTS, R1280DBS or similar. Check yours before ordering.

Our take
Between this and the T5 the honest answer is: buy on finish and what's in stock that week — the job and the wattage are the same. Brown next to walnut Edifiers is the tidy choice.
