The HE1000 with the Unveiled treatment: HiFiMan strips away the structure between diaphragm and ear, leaving the driver working into open air. It is the current statement of the platform — everything the HE1000 does, with the last layer of hardware removed.

This is a headphone for a settled listening room. The open-baffle build puts nothing between you and the driver, and also nothing between the driver and the world: leakage in both directions is total, and the exposed face wants careful handling.

Give it a proper desktop amplifier and a quiet evening. If your listening happens at a desk with a fan and a family, the HE1000se will make you happier for longer.

Our take
The HE1000 V4 gets you most of this platform; the Unveiled buys the last increment of openness at collector money. If the room is quiet and the chain is settled, it earns its keep — otherwise the HE1000se is the smarter cheque.
