A pocket-size problem solver from Budapest: the Knot hosts USB MIDI on one side and speaks five-pin DIN on the other, so a USB-only controller can play hardware synths with no computer in the room.

The classic job: give a USB-only controller a hardware life in a DIN rig — Grid tiles, most modern compact controllers. TRS MIDI is covered too, adapters included.

Powered over USB-C and small enough to velcro to the back of a synth. The one check before buying: your controller must be class-compliant — anything that needs a driver will not work on a host this simple.

Our take
The cheapest cure for "my controller is USB-only and my synth is not" — cheaper than replacing the controller and smaller than the laptop it replaces. Grid tiles are the obvious partners, but it hosts anything class-compliant.
