A rack interface built for synth people: sixteen line inputs on the back where they belong, ADAT for sixteen more, a USB hub for controllers, and standalone mixing when the computer stays off. One rack unit replaces the patchbay, the interface and the powered hub.

Channel honesty: those sixteen inputs are line level. This is for hardware rigs — synths, drum machines, outboard returns — not for tracking a band of microphones. If you need mic channels in quantity, the ADAT ports will take a preamp expander.

The standalone mixer mode matters more than it sounds: the rig still sums when the laptop stays in the bag.

Our take
If your studio is mostly hardware, this beats any similarly positioned mic-preamp interface — line channels are what synth rigs actually consume. Mic-first studios should look at the AudioFuse Studio instead, and eight mic channels over ADAT is the Audient EVO SP8's job.
