Audient's desk-format flagship EVO: eight Smartgain preamps, a screen running the Motion UI that makes deep routing legible, and ADAT in both directions. The 24-in count is honest but optical — out of the box you get eight mic inputs, and the rest arrive only when you add expanders like the EVO SP8.

It is the band-tracking interface of the EVO range: drums plus guide vocals in one pass, two headphone outputs for the players, Smartgain setting eight levels in the time it takes to play a verse.

Solo recordists will never touch six of those preamps — an EVO 8 or iD14 is the smarter buy there.

Our take
Smartgain across eight channels is the feature that matters — level-setting a drum kit takes one press and one verse. Nothing else we stock tracks a band with this little fuss.
