Austrian Audio's entry proper: the Vienna ex-AKG team's 44 mm Hi-X driver in a closed, foldable monitoring build. Punchy and honest, and at 25 Ω with high sensitivity, any interface or phone drives it without complaint.

What separates it from the Hi-X15 below it is serviceability — the cable detaches, the pads replace. Grown-up logic at the bottom of the range.

At 255 g it wears light through long edits. First serious headphone, spare-bag headphone, teaching-fleet headphone: this is that shelf, and it holds up.

Our take
Our default recommendation under the Hi-X55. Buy the X15 only if the fixed cable genuinely doesn't bother you — the X20 is the one still in service in five years.
