The wireless Hi-X: the 44 mm driver family with Bluetooth and — the part we care about — a proper wired fallback. This is the commuting version of a monitoring headphone, not a lifestyle gadget with drivers in it.

Battery life is generous, and when it does run dry the cable turns it back into an ordinary 25 Ω closed headphone. It never becomes a paperweight.

Buy it for the train and the office. For pure studio work the wired Hi-X20 does the same job with nothing to charge and less to go wrong.

Our take
Treat it as a Hi-X20 with a commute mode. If you'd only ever use it wired, skip the battery and buy the X20; if you're on a train twice a day, this is the one.
