Austrian Audio Hi-X55

The full-size closed Hi-X: 44 mm ring-magnet drivers behind over-ear pads, with the metal-hinged build Vienna insists on. Tracking and mobile mixing are the jobs it was drawn for.

It folds flat, the cable detaches, the pads replace — the AKG heritage shows exactly where it should. At 25 Ω it runs properly from an interface headphone out; no amp shopping required.

Isolation is solid enough for vocal booths and location work. If most of your hours are mixing in a quiet room, consider the open Hi-X65 instead — closed backs always pay a small honesty tax.
