The on-ear of the Hi-X family: the 44 mm High-Excursion driver in a smaller, stage-friendly footprint, with the metal headband and hinges that have to survive the van.

On-ear is a deliberate choice. It sits in front of glasses arms instead of clamping over them, and it packs half the size of an over-ear. The trade is isolation — good, but not over-ear good — and pad pressure that some heads never make friends with.

Cable detaches, pads replace. If you've never worn an on-ear for a full session, try fifteen minutes before committing.

Our take
Cross-shop it against the Sennheiser HD 25: the HD 25 isolates harder and every part of it replaces, while the Hi-X50 is better built out of the box and less pinchy. Drummers take the HD 25; most everyone else walks out with this.
