Open back means the room must be yours. It leaks both ways, and it will not survive a tracking session next to a live mic. In exchange you get the flatter midrange and honest stereo image that closed backs never quite manage.

Mini-XLR detachable cable, replaceable pads, hinges built like door hardware. At 25 Ω any interface drives it properly — no amp excuse needed.

Our take

In the open mixing class we stock it sits between the Beyerdynamic DT 900 PRO X and the Sennheiser HD 490 PRO: drier than the Beyer, more matter-of-fact than the Sennheiser. Pick it if you want the least editorial of the three.
