The OC18 is the working studio's cardioid: the handmade CKR12 ceramic capsule from the OC818, fixed to a single pattern, with self-noise low enough to record whisper-quiet sources cleanly. Pads to −20 dB and a three-position low-cut mean it also takes a snare or a shouting vocalist without flinching.

The Studio Set adds the OCS8 shockmount and OCP8 pop filter — working kit, not a bare mic in a box.

It needs 48 V phantom power. If you'll only ever point it at one source in one room, this is the sensible ceiling; the OC818's extra patterns cost real money.

Our take
The one we'd grab first off the Austrian Audio shelf. The OC16 saves money but loses the pads, filters and the quieter capsule; the OC818 adds patterns most single-room studios never switch. The OC18 is the middle that's actually the top.
